Focus On the Bigger Picture
Building a healthy relationship with food takes time and it’s a problem many people struggle with so you’re not alone. Cold-turkey restrictions of foods never work and nonsense diets are demoralizing and never sustainable. So what does work for the long term?
Moderation is about balancing healthy dietary and lifestyle choices without overindulging or deprivation of your favorite unhealthy foods and activities.
Moderation allows you to focus on the bigger picture of your health in relation to your diet, your exercise, your effort and rewards. Where the sum of your choices is what really matters, not a binge dinner with friends or a Friday night comfort snack. We’re all human after all, and each of us need our own pleasures, indulgences, and temptations to survive the crazy game of life.
This Is Too Good to be True, What’s the Catch?
This only works if you’re honest with yourself, your effort, and your consistency. You will fail at this, that is guaranteed but also natural. It’s from these slip ups though, that you will learn what works best for you and what you need to be avoiding or learn to do better next time.
This is a skill that requires practice, mental re-wiring, and dedicated focus as you are breaking decades of BAD habits and routines. Mastering this doesn’t happen over night. Once you find your rhythm though, you’ll be able to enjoy the occasional treat without slipping back into bad and unhealthy habits.

What You Need to Know
Time & Place
There’s a time to enjoy indulgent foods, like at a celebration or a special occasion. Then there’s times you need to buckle down with healthier options. it’s not about perfection, but about making choices that align with the context of your life.
Work Hard, Play Hard
This is why you do this. Put in the work now so you can play guilt-free later. That’s the theme of moderation is all about. It does work, just not when you’re constantly tipping the scales, between both extremes, throwing everything off.
Autopilot Mindset
Establish habits and routines that make healthy choices feel automatic and mindless, especially during the busy Mon.-Fri. workweek. This allows you to indulge while providing structure and discipline during occasions, when such may loosen.
